Debevoise & Plimpton has added Neal J. Reenan and Ian Bushner as partners in its Mergers & Acquisitions Group in New York, further expanding the firm’s private capital platform.
Reenan and Bushner advise private equity firms and portfolio companies on complex domestic and cross-border transactions.
Their experience spans buyouts, take-private transactions, carve-outs, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, minority investments, strategic investments and spin-offs across numerous industries.
Before joining Debevoise, the two lawyers served as leaders in the private capital practice of another international law firm.
Reenan and Bushner have worked together for more than a decade advising private equity sponsors.
Their addition follows Debevoise’s recent recruitment of partners Mary Lavelle, Karen Chao, Zahra Sowder and Andrea Hwang.
With the latest additions, Debevoise said it has more lawyers recognized by Chambers for Private Equity: Buyouts in New York than any other firm.
The hires come as the firm sees increasing M&A activity across private capital, including larger and more complex transactions.
Debevoise has advised private equity clients for nearly five decades and operates an integrated private capital platform spanning M&A, fund formation, finance and related disciplines.
Reenan received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2003, an M.B.A. and M.S. in Accounting from Northeastern University in 1994 and an A.B. from Harvard University in 1993.
Bushner earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of Chicago Law School in 2009 and a B.A., with honors, from Washington University in St. Louis in 2006.
