Lightrun — a continuous debugging and observability company — announced it has closed a $23 million Series A round led by Insight Partners with participation from existing investor Glilot Capital Partners, bringing its total funding to $27 million. And Lightrun will use the funding to expand its engineering team and accelerate its roadmap of enterprise-level features for developer teams embracing the new shift-left paradigm for production code observability.
In April, Lightrun had launched a free community edition of its popular platform for developer-native observability. And earlier this month, Lightrun was named a Gartner Cool Vendor for Monitoring, Observability and Cloud Operations. The company doubled its number of employees in the last year and it recently announced numerous new integrations supported by the APM product ecosystem, including Datadog, IntelliJ IDEA, Logz.io, Prometheus, Slack and StatsD.
Lightrun gives developers “shift left” observability from within the tooling they already use (IDEs, CLIs, code repositories) along with the ability to add logs, metrics, and traces to running applications. Developers are using Lightrun’s capabilities to verify new features as part of their CI/CD pipeline. Lightrun is streamlining this process of defining and consuming observability, making it real-time and ops-free while still being controlled, defined and consumed by developers. And limiting developers’ need to involve operations managers creates more agile organizations, shorter MTTRs and better developer experiences while optimizing observability costs.
