Decks & Docks Company, a leading specialty distributor of composite decking and outdoor living building products, has announced the acquisition of J&W Lumber, a Southern California provider of premium outdoor building materials. The transaction marks Decks & Docks’ entry into the West Coast market and expands its geographic footprint through J&W’s six retail locations across Southern California.
Founded in 1958, J&W Lumber has built a strong reputation for supplying premium outdoor building materials, including decking, railing, and accessories. The company serves a diverse customer base that includes homeowners, contractors, municipalities, dealers, manufacturers, and architects.
As part of the transaction, J&W Owner Clyde Jennings will continue to lead the business, which will retain the J&W Lumber brand name. The company’s entire workforce will remain in place, ensuring continuity of service and customer relationships.
The acquisition aligns with Decks & Docks’ strategy of expanding its national presence through partnerships with established regional operators. Company leaders noted that J&W’s reputation, customer service focus, and complementary product offerings make it an ideal platform for growth throughout the Western United States.
Southern California was selected as the starting point for Decks & Docks’ West Coast expansion due to its strong outdoor living market and year-round favorable climate. The companies expect the partnership to create new opportunities for customers, employees, and suppliers while preserving the values and culture that have defined J&W for decades.
