Deezer Launches Free AI Music Detector For Playlists Across Major Streaming Platforms

Deezer announced the launch of a free online AI music detector that lets users check whether their playlists contain AI-generated songs. Available in 27 languages, the tool supports playlists from 20 of the most widely used music streaming platforms.

The company said the detector is powered by its proprietary AI music detection technology and requires only a few steps. Users connect their streaming accounts, allow Deezer to scan their playlists, and receive results they can share with others.

According to Deezer, nearly 43% of users who join the platform from competing streaming services already have AI-generated tracks in their playlists. An Ipsos survey commissioned by the company across eight countries found that 80% of respondents believe AI-generated music should be clearly labeled and 73% want streaming platforms to identify when AI-created songs are being recommended.

Deezer said it receives nearly 75,000 AI-generated tracks every day, representing more than 44% of all daily uploads to the platform. Since implementing its AI detection technology at the beginning of 2025, the company has identified and tagged more than 13.4 million AI-generated tracks.

The company became the first music streaming platform to label AI-generated music in June 2025. Songs identified as AI-created are excluded from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists to limit their impact on royalty pools.

According to Deezer, fully AI-generated songs currently account for only 1%-3% of streams on the platform, but the company found that as much as 85% of the streams associated with these tracks in 2025 were fraudulent. Streams linked to manipulation are excluded from royalty payments.

Deezer has also made its AI detection technology available to the broader music ecosystem through licensing agreements. The technology can detect content created by popular generative AI platforms, including Suno and Udio, and the company said it has made progress toward identifying AI-generated music without relying on model-specific training data.

The company applied for two patents related to its AI detection technology in December 2024. A study conducted by CISAC and PMP Strategy, with participation from Deezer and other industry stakeholders, estimated that nearly 25% of creators’ revenues could be at risk by 2028, representing up to €4 billion in lost income.

KEY QUOTES:

“By detecting and tagging AI generated music over the past year and a half, Deezer has been at the forefront of transparency in music streaming. No other company has followed our lead yet, so we decided to make it possible for everyone to check if their playlists include synthetic music, no matter which streaming platform they use. A vast majority of people want to know if AI music is being recommended to them and our data show that nearly half of the users joining Deezer from another platform have AI tracks in their playlists. We’re expecting our AI music detector to be an eye-opening experience for listeners around the world.”
