Delegance Raises $3.1 Million Pre-Seed For AI-Native Commercial Insurance Brokerage

Delegance Brokerage has raised $3.1 million in pre-seed funding led by Grit Capital Partners to expand an AI-native commercial insurance brokerage built around a flat, disclosed fee model. Core VC, Gilgamesh Ventures, and Outside VC also participated.

The New York-based company established its brokerage operations before raising the round and is licensed across 51 jurisdictions. Delegance has direct appointments with 25 insurance carriers, including Chubb, Travelers, and The Hartford, and said it has secured more than $26 million in premium commitments for 2026.

Delegance was founded by CEO Alexander Ledbetter after his experience working at commercial insurance carrier AXA XL. The company’s model is intended to replace conventional percentage-based brokerage commissions with a flat 5% disclosed fee.

The platform supports more than 4,000 business classifications and over 36 forms of coverage, including general liability, workers’ compensation, property, commercial auto, cyber, professional liability, and directors and officers insurance. Many classifications can receive instant quotes, while specialty and excess risks are directed to wholesale insurance markets.

Delegance has also automated several servicing workflows. Customers can request certificates of insurance, make policy changes, file and track claims, and receive renewal reviews through a unified account. Its AI agent, Orin, answers questions using customers’ existing policies across the company’s portal, email, phone, and chat, while licensed brokers remain responsible for complex placements and coverage decisions.

The company said its 5% fee can reduce total insurance costs by approximately 10% to 20% on a typical placement compared with traditional commission structures. Delegance will use the new financing to hire additional licensed insurance brokers and engineers and deepen relationships with banks, private equity firms, and software platforms.

KEY QUOTE:

“That commission paid for paperwork, and the paperwork never got faster. I taught myself to code so software could do that work. The business should keep the money the paperwork used to cost.”
