DeleteMe Acquires Block Party To Expand Data Protection Capabilities

DeleteMe, a privacy protection and personal data removal platform, announced that it has acquired Block Party, a social media privacy and safety tool designed to help individuals and organizations secure their online presence at scale.

The acquisition is aimed at strengthening DeleteMe’s ability to reduce personal data exposure across the open web, data brokers, and social media platforms. Block Party’s technology, delivered through a browser extension, enables users to identify and remediate privacy and security risks across major platforms, including Facebook, Google, Venmo, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.

By combining DeleteMe’s data broker removal capabilities with Block Party’s social media privacy controls, the company is positioning itself as a more comprehensive solution to address the growing threat of social engineering and AI-driven cyberattacks. These attacks increasingly rely on publicly available personal data to target individuals and build trust for exploitation.

The announcement comes amid a sharp rise in online exposure risks. According to the company, the average American has hundreds of pieces of personally identifiable information circulating online, while AI-powered attacks have surged significantly, with social engineering emerging as a dominant tactic. The proliferation of audio and video content online is also creating new vulnerabilities, enabling attackers to generate deepfakes and voice clones.

Block Party was founded to address risks stemming from social media activity, offering automated tools that “deep clean” accounts and reduce exposure. The platform has evolved to support both individuals and organizations, helping protect employees, executives, and brands from online threats.

Following the acquisition, both DeleteMe and Block Party will continue to operate as separate products while integration plans are developed. The deal aligns with DeleteMe’s broader strategy to become a leading provider of proactive privacy protection solutions for both consumers and enterprises.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

KEY QUOTES:

“Social engineering attacks rely on the availability of personal data to target individuals and establish trust. By combining DeleteMe’s leading data broker removal capabilities with Block Party’s social media privacy controls, we are now the only solution capable of offering both individuals and organizations a solution that removes the fuel powering these attacks from the two places hackers go first, data brokers and social media.”

Rob Shavell, CEO of DeleteMe

“Having a strong presence on social media can be incredibly powerful. But if not properly managed, your social media activity can provide hackers an open door into your personal life. Block Party addresses this by making it simple for individuals and organizations to improve privacy and reduce risk by automatically deep cleaning their social media accounts in just a few clicks.”
