deltaVision has raised €10.2 million in seed funding to expand production of fluid-control systems for space applications. The round was led by KT Ventures and Valemount Capital, with participation from Futury Capital.
The company plans to use the funding to move from specialized development into industrial-scale manufacturing. deltaVision is targeting annual production capacity of 5,000 units while working to offer what it describes as some of the shortest delivery times in the market.
deltaVision develops valves, pressure regulators and electrically powered pumps, or ePumps, for spacecraft. These components manage the movement, pressure and delivery of liquids and gases used in propulsion, thermal-control and other onboard systems.
Reliable fluid-control hardware is important because spacecraft systems must operate under extreme temperatures, vibration and pressure conditions. Component failures can affect propulsion performance, fuel management and the broader success of a mission.
The funding will also support deltaVision’s research and development roadmap. The company is investing in technologies intended to make future spacecraft easier to service, refuel and reuse.
In-orbit servicing and refueling could allow spacecraft to operate for longer periods rather than being retired when their original fuel supply or certain components are exhausted. Reusable systems could also reduce the need to manufacture and launch replacement spacecraft for every mission.
deltaVision has built an integrated portfolio covering multiple parts of the spacecraft fluidic system. By controlling more of the development and production process internally, the company aims to improve manufacturing speed, product availability and quality oversight.
The company said its team has grown to more than 125 employees spanning the full value chain. The new capital is expected to support further hiring as deltaVision expands production and advances its next generation of spaceflight technologies.
The financing represents a transition from product development toward higher-volume commercial delivery. deltaVision plans to use the expanded capacity to serve increasing demand from spacecraft manufacturers and other organizations developing serviceable, refuellable and reusable space systems.
