Jersey City-based Denham Capital announced the appointment of Rick Drescher as an Operating Partner within its Sustainable Infrastructure business, strengthening the firm’s push into power solutions for data centers.
Drescher joins as Denham Capital expands its global investment strategy to deploy on-site, reliable power solutions that help data center developers and hyperscalers energize facilities years ahead of full grid connectivity. He will support investment and portfolio company management teams that are currently screening projects totaling more than 10 gigawatts of capacity, ensuring high-quality engagement with current and prospective partners across the data center ecosystem.
Drescher brings over 25 years of experience specializing in mission-critical infrastructure and data center projects. He most recently served at Savills, where he was co-founder and technical lead of the North American data center practice. Earlier in his career, he held senior technical and engineering roles at Studley, Pangaia Partners, and Everest Broadband Networks.
His appointment comes as Denham Capital accelerates its power-for-data-centers investment strategy, including the recent launch of Gray Oak Power, a U.S.-based developer and operator of firm power infrastructure. Drescher is expected to play a leading role in supporting the firm’s pipeline of on-site power projects in partnership with developers and operators.
Over the course of his career, Drescher has successfully led and supported more than 25 hyperscale and 100 enterprise transactions. His background complements Denham Capital’s two-decade track record of developing, building, and operating gigawatts of gas-fired and renewable power assets.
Founded in 2004, Denham Capital is a global power and infrastructure investment firm that has raised more than $12 billion in capital, including funds now managed by Trace Capital, across multiple sectors. The firm specializes in private equity, infrastructure, and credit investments, targeting areas central to global economic and resource transitions.
