Dentons US announced that Cameron Kates has joined the firm’s Corporate practice as a partner in the New York office.

Kates advises technology companies, investors, and financial institutions on commercial and corporate transactions, product development, and regulatory issues tied to fast-moving markets.

He has particular experience in fintech, digital assets, and AI, where transactions are often novel and the regulatory landscape continues to evolve.

Kates advises clients on financings, technology transactions, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.

He also maintains a product counseling practice, working with companies as they design, develop, and launch products in regulated or potentially regulated markets.

Before joining Dentons, Kates served as Chief Legal Officer and Chief Business Officer of a digital asset company.

In that role, he led market-shaping acquisitions, structured commercial agreements with global brands and creators, navigated regulatory investigations, and handled litigation matters.

Kates also previously practiced at several large law firms, where he represented clients in private equity and M&A transactions, capital markets technology mandates, and complex joint ventures across multiple industries.

Dentons said the addition strengthens its ability to advise clients in fintech, digital assets, AI, and other evolving sectors.
