Dentons has strengthened its Global Leadership Team with the appointment of Beth Taylor as Global Chief Legal Officer and the promotion of Shane Mercer to Global Chief Information Officer. Both executives will join the firm’s Global Management Committee and report to Global CEO Kate Barton.
Taylor, who will be based in New York, joins Dentons from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where she served as general counsel for 14 years. Prior to Cadwalader, she was head of litigation at RBS Americas and ABN AMRO. Dentons said Taylor will begin her new role on February 2 and will work closely with the firm’s Regional General Counsels in support of the firm’s priorities.
Mercer, based in Toronto, has been appointed Global Chief Information Officer and will lead Dentons’ Global Business Technology team. The firm said Mercer has spent more than 25 years at Dentons, where he has led transformation initiatives and optimized operations across platforms spanning the firm’s presence in more than 85 countries. Mercer assumes the CIO role with immediate effect.
Dentons said the two appointments reflect its focus on leadership depth as it continues to expand globally and invest in technology and operational capabilities to support its people and clients.
