Dentons Canada has expanded its cross-border regulatory and transportation bench with the additions of partner Martin Abadi and counsel Raymond Ashurov, strengthening the firm’s ability to advise clients navigating complex transport, mobility and trade-related rules across jurisdictions.

Abadi joins as a partner in Dentons’ Regulatory and Transportation groups and is positioned as a leading practitioner in Canada’s transport and mobility sector. His practice spans regulatory, transactional and dispute resolution work across all major modes of transport—aviation and aerospace, automotive, trucking, rail and marine—serving commercial, industrial and defence-related mandates. Dentons said Abadi also advises on infrastructure and emerging technologies shaping the sector, including electrification and e-mobility.

Ashurov joins as counsel in the Regulatory group, bringing experience advising transportation, logistics and adjacent industries on regulatory compliance and enforcement-facing matters. His work includes import/export and customs issues, motor vehicle safety recalls, licensing and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and broader compliance programs affecting cross-border movement of goods and equipment.

In a statement, Abadi said the move creates an opportunity to deepen a cross-border practice with Ashurov and to leverage Dentons’ national and global platform to deliver customized solutions across “emerging and dynamic sectors.”

Blair McCreadie, managing partner of Dentons’ Toronto office, said Abadi brings a blend of legal and business insight and a hybrid practice that enables him to work across multiple disciplines, while Ashurov’s regulatory and litigation background complements the firm’s focus on end-to-end client service.

Dentons said the hires align with its broader strategy of providing integrated regulatory, advisory and transactional support to clients operating in highly regulated and fast-evolving industries, including transportation and mobility, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing and technology.
