Dentons Canada announced that Peter Bryan has joined the firm’s Calgary office as a partner in its national Energy group, reinforcing the firm’s focus on expanding its energy capabilities amid rapid transformation across the sector.

Bryan brings nearly 25 years of experience advising on complex energy matters across Canada. Over the course of his career, he has played leadership roles on several of the country’s most significant energy infrastructure initiatives, including the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline, multiple LNG developments, and the federal government’s acquisition of the Trans Mountain Pipeline. His practice covers commercial, transactional, and M&A matters across the energy sector, advising major industry participants on high-profile and large-scale projects.

The firm said Bryan’s addition reflects its continued investment in building a future-focused energy practice as regulatory frameworks shift, decarbonization efforts accelerate, and infrastructure development intensifies nationwide.

Hazel Saffery, National Energy Group Leader at Dentons Canada, said Bryan’s background in large-scale infrastructure, LNG, and complex M&A aligns closely with evolving client needs. She noted that as the energy landscape becomes more integrated and technology-driven, expanding the team with experienced lawyers is critical to maintaining the firm’s leadership position in the sector.

John Cusano, Office Managing Partner in Calgary, emphasized the regional significance of the hire, pointing to Bryan’s reputation for work on transformative projects and his understanding of regulatory and commercial challenges facing energy companies. He added that Bryan’s arrival strengthens the Calgary office and enhances the firm’s ability to serve clients across Canada and internationally.

Dentons Canada was recognized as Natural Resources Law Firm of the Year in the 2026 edition of Best Law Firms – Canada. The firm’s Energy team advises clients across upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas matters, as well as power and utility projects, renewable and emerging technologies, and ESG and carbon-related strategies. Its work spans regulatory, environmental, and transactional matters, supporting projects from development through operation and investment.
