Dentons has expanded its African footprint by launching an office in Senegal through a combination with leading local firm Legalix. The move strengthens Dentons’ growing pan-African platform and follows recent office openings in Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Establishing a presence in Dakar reflects the firm’s strategy to scale its capabilities in key growth markets across the continent.
Legalix’s founders have spent more than six years serving clients throughout Senegal and the 17 countries within the Organisation for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa. The full-service team has developed deep expertise supporting both domestic and international companies on complex legal matters involving dispute resolution, M&A transactions, banking and finance, regulatory issues, tax and competition law. Their integration into Dentons enhances the firm’s ability to meet rising client demand across established and emerging industries in West Africa.
Senegal continues to strengthen its position as a gateway to the region as the government advances pro-investment reforms and pursues economic development initiatives. Agriculture, mining, shipping and petroleum refining remain pillars of its trade activity, while sectors such as renewable energy and tourism are increasingly driving new opportunities for cross-border investment and advisory work. Dentons expects the Dakar office to play a central role in supporting clients operating and expanding in these markets.
The launch also contributes to Dentons’ broader strategy of accelerating its growth across Africa, where the firm now maintains a presence in a wide range of jurisdictions. The Senegal opening comes shortly after expansions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia and the Turks and Caicos Islands, reflecting sustained momentum in the firm’s global integration efforts.
