Dentons HPRP has appointed Joowoon Baek as Counsel in a move to strengthen its Korea Desk and expand its capabilities advising Korean clients and international investors operating in Indonesia.
Baek brings more than two decades of experience in Indonesia, combining legal expertise with senior executive leadership. His background includes serving as Head of Legal at a major industrial group and as President Director of digital media and technology companies, giving him a strong understanding of how legal frameworks intersect with commercial strategy.
At Dentons HPRP, Baek will focus on delivering integrated legal and business solutions, helping clients navigate Indonesia’s regulatory environment while aligning legal considerations with practical business execution. His experience includes building in-house legal functions, overseeing compliance across more than 30 subsidiaries, and advising on complex cross-border transactions. He has also led market entry and localization strategies for Korean companies expanding into Indonesia.
The appointment reflects the firm’s continued investment in cross-border capabilities, particularly between Indonesia and Korea. According to Managing Partner Sartono, Baek’s combined legal and business background will support both Korean clients investing in Indonesia and Indonesian clients expanding into Korea.
