Dentons announced that Kristyn Annis has joined the firm’s Toronto office as a partner in its Corporate and Energy groups, strengthening its capabilities in advising clients across the evolving energy sector.
Annis brings more than two decades of experience focused on commercial transactions and mergers and acquisitions within the energy market. Her work spans advising utilities, project developers, lenders, municipal shareholders and government entities on renewable generation, electricity transmission and distribution, and emerging energy technologies. These include electric vehicles, distributed energy resources, energy management solutions and various forms of energy storage.
Her expertise also extends to carbon and environmental markets, where she has advised on emissions allowances, carbon offsets, renewable energy certificates and other environmental attributes generated under federal and provincial greenhouse gas regulatory frameworks. In addition, she has advised senior government leaders on energy policy, emissions trading and climate change, giving her a strong foundation in regulatory and ESG considerations shaping today’s energy landscape.
Dentons emphasized that Annis’ arrival supports its broader strategy to expand its national energy practice as Canada’s energy sector undergoes rapid transformation driven by decarbonization, regulatory shifts and infrastructure investment.
The firm noted that it continues to advise across the full energy value chain, including oil and gas, power and utilities, renewable and emerging technologies, and ESG-related strategies, combining regulatory, environmental, and transactional expertise.
