Global law firm Dentons has recruited partner Livia Zamfiropol to lead its Competition and Antitrust practice and Life Sciences sector group in Bucharest. Zamfiropol brings over two decades of experience and has built a strong reputation as one of Romania’s leading competition and antitrust lawyers, earning high rankings from major international legal directories including Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500.
Zamfiropol advises and represents local and multinational companies in complex antitrust investigations, including matters involving alleged abuse of dominance and anti-competitive agreements before the Romanian Competition Council. Her practice also encompasses merger control clearances, foreign direct investment screening, and the regulatory aspects of strategic investments and transactions in Romania, including State aid matters. She additionally coordinates competition compliance programs and provides strategic advice in litigation proceedings challenging decisions issued by the Romanian Competition Council.
Beyond her core competition practice, Zamfiropol brings deep experience advising clients in the life sciences sector on competition law as well as Romanian pharmaceutical law. Her appointment strengthens Dentons’ local capabilities in Bucharest at a time when competition law advice is increasingly critical to the firm’s market-leading merger and acquisitions, real estate, and energy practices in the region.
The hire enhances Dentons’ broader European Competition and Antitrust platform as enforcement activity grows increasingly sophisticated across Europe. The addition bolsters the firm’s ability to support clients on complex cross-border matters spanning merger control, antitrust investigations, and regulatory issues throughout the continent.
