Dentons recently announced some notable hires, including senior foreign attorney Anna Jeewon Shin and partner Alana Sliwinski.
Anna Jeewon Shin
Dentons welcomed Senior Foreign Attorney Anna Jeewon Shin (Admitted to the New York and New Jersey Bars). Her experience features public and private sectors, with a strong focus on insurance, reinsurance, data privacy, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance.
Shin has advised multinational reinsurers and domestic insurers in South Korea on contract negotiations, product development, insurance claims, privacy law compliance, and advisory services in internal corporate governance and compliance frameworks. Her corporate counsel and management experience across various industries, including insurance, biotech, and finance—equips her to manage complex legal issues including in cross-border transactions.
Last year, she was seconded to the Office of the President of the Republic of Korea as Assistant Secretary to President Yoon Seok Yeol, assigned to the Office of International Public Relations. There, she oversaw foreign public relations and assisted in press secretariat matters, supporting strategic messaging for foreign media and diplomatic communications.
Dentons Lee’s Insurance & Reinsurance Practice Group, led by Senior Foreign Attorney John JungKyum Kim, will benefit from Shin’s strong expertise and her knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance markets in the Asia-Pacific Region. Together, the two, along with other senior attorneys and associates, have combined 50+ years of experience not only in South Korea but across many continents with commercial hubs around the world. The team regularly provides expert legal services on complex transactions and regulatory compliance issues for domestic and international insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and other financial institutions and stakeholders.
Alana T. Sliwinski
Dentons also announced that Alana T. Sliwinski has joined the firm as a partner in its Real Estate practice, based in the New York office. With over a decade of experience representing real estate owners and developers nationally, Sliwinski advises clients throughout the full development and construction lifecycle for a diverse array of projects, including luxury mixed-use residential, commercial, office, hotel and infrastructure.
Sliwinski’s practice focuses on structuring, negotiating, and drafting sophisticated construction and design agreements, such as EPC, design-build, construction management, and architect/engineering contracts. She has advised on developments collectively valued in excess of $10 billion, offering practical, business-minded solutions that balance timely deal execution with long-term risk mitigation. Plus, Sliwinski utilizes her dispute resolution experience to help clients identify potential vulnerabilities early and avoid costly conflicts, whether navigating fast-moving transactions or advising on ongoing project execution.
Sliwinski spent the majority of her career in private practice. And she also gained a unique perspective as in-house counsel when she served as director of legal for Canopy Buildings at Sidewalk Labs (now part of Google), where she oversaw the legal affairs of the offsite construction startup and advised on a wide range of matters. This included commercial contracting, corporate governance, insurance, operations and product strategy, while helping to develop a scalable legal infrastructure to support Canopy’s mass timber building systems. With this experience, she acts as external general counsel for a variety of clients, including several in the construction and proptech industries.
