Descartes Systems Group announced that it has acquired Idelic, a provider of AI-powered driver safety and performance management solutions, in a deal aimed at strengthening its logistics platform and expanding its data capabilities.
The acquisition was completed for approximately $28 million in cash, with an additional earn-out of up to $12 million tied to future performance targets, bringing the potential total value of the transaction to $40 million.
Idelic’s platform aggregates real-time data from more than 80 telematics, risk management, and regulatory systems, enabling fleets to monitor driver behavior, predict risk, and optimize safety interventions. The system is built on a dataset that includes more than 40 billion miles of telemetry and over 400,000 accident records, providing a foundation for predictive analytics and machine learning models.
The acquisition adds these capabilities to Descartes’ Global Logistics Network, enhancing its ability to deliver integrated fleet performance management solutions that combine operational data with driver safety insights. The integration is expected to strengthen Descartes’ position in last-mile logistics and fleet optimization, where safety and efficiency are increasingly interconnected.
Descartes is positioning the deal as part of a broader strategy to embed AI deeper into its logistics platform, enabling customers to make more informed decisions based on real-time operational and behavioral data. The addition of Idelic’s predictive safety intelligence is expected to improve both fleet productivity and risk management outcomes.
The transaction also reflects continued consolidation in the logistics and supply chain software sector, where companies are acquiring specialized analytics and AI capabilities to build more comprehensive, data-driven platforms.
With the integration of Idelic, Descartes continues to expand its Global Logistics Network, reinforcing its role as a provider of end-to-end solutions that connect shippers, carriers, and logistics providers through a unified data and technology ecosystem.
