Develop Health, an EHR-integrated platform for benefits verification and prior authorization, has raised $14.3 million in a Series A funding round led by Wing Venture Capital, bringing its total funding to $17.6 million.

The company utilizes advanced Generative AI to streamline medication access, integrating with virtual care workflows for real-time insurance verification, prior authorization submission, and status tracking without manual input from care teams.

Founded by Mel van Londen and Benjamin Easton, Develop Health aims to simplify the administrative complexities of accessing necessary medications. Their previous experience at Canvas Medical and Rupa Health highlighted the critical need for improved communication and data fidelity between providers and payers.

The new funding will allow Develop Health to expand beyond pharmacy benefits to the medical benefit market while enhancing integrations with EHRs and pharmacy benefit managers. Currently, Develop Health helps providers reduce form completion time by over 80% and improve approval rates. The company aims to assist over 1 million patients in accessing medications by year-end, supported by its skilled engineering team, including Jack Collins, Juan de Urtubey, and Zygimantas Koncius.

KEY QUOTES:

“We believe providers should be able to make care decisions with full visibility into a patient’s plan, because a prescription that isn’t affordable or accessible is no prescription at all. We’re building healthcare’s agentic clearinghouse, starting with medication access and designing infrastructure that meets both payers and providers where they are.”

Mel van Londen, co-founder and CEO of Develop Health

“Develop Health is solving one of the most frustrating pain points in healthcare – getting patients the medications they need without weeks of paperwork and endless back-and-forth. They’ve built a system that puts GenAI to work in one of the industry’s most critical, overlooked workflows. Develop Health is positioned to become essential infrastructure for any provider dealing with medication access complexity.”
