Devolutions Launches Venture Arm To Invest In IT, MSP, AI And Secure Access Technologies

Devolutions, a Montreal-based provider of secure access and IT management software, has launched Devolutions Ventures, a new corporate investment division focused on technology companies serving IT teams and managed service providers (MSPs). The initiative builds on seven investments, acquisitions, and sponsorships completed since 2025, with individual investments typically ranging from $500,000 to $3 million per company. The division will focus on secure access, network performance, artificial intelligence, automation, and other technologies that support daily IT operations.

The launch formalizes Devolutions’ existing investment activities and establishes a dedicated platform for supporting emerging technology companies. Rather than pursuing a traditional consolidation strategy, the company intends to build a connected ecosystem of complementary products and services that address the operational challenges facing IT professionals and MSPs.

Devolutions Ventures’ existing portfolio of investments, acquisitions, and sponsorships includes Mizo, dbatools.pro, Obkio, UniGetUI, Avalonia UI, PowerShell Universal, and ControlR. These businesses and projects span AI automation, network monitoring, open-source development, and IT automation.

The new division will seek opportunities across the broader IT infrastructure market, including companies developing technologies that simplify administrative tasks, improve network visibility, and help organizations manage increasingly complex technology environments.

A central component of the investment strategy is maintaining the independence of the companies Devolutions supports. Portfolio companies will retain their existing leadership teams and product roadmaps, allowing founders to continue developing their technologies while gaining access to additional capital and operational expertise.

Devolutions intends to take an advisory approach to its investments, drawing on more than 15 years of experience developing and commercializing software for IT professionals.

The company will provide portfolio businesses with access to its expertise in go-to-market strategy, cybersecurity, product development, and community building. These resources are intended to help participating businesses expand their customer bases and pursue additional growth opportunities without requiring them to integrate their operations into Devolutions.

Another important component of the strategy is access to Devolutions’ established global user community, which includes more than one million IT professionals across 140 countries.

For emerging software companies, this network provides opportunities to reach potential customers, build relationships with IT professionals, and gain additional insight into the requirements of organizations managing complex IT infrastructure.

The approach also allows Devolutions to expand its relationships with companies developing complementary technologies, creating opportunities for collaboration across its broader ecosystem.

Avalonia UI, one of the companies supported by Devolutions, has highlighted the value of combining financial investment with practical operating experience. Its relationship with Devolutions demonstrates the type of long-term partnership the new division intends to establish with other technology businesses.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, Devolutions Ventures plans to expand its network of investments and partnerships across the IT and MSP ecosystem, with continued emphasis on AI, network technologies, developer tools, and open-source software.

The initiative represents an extension of Devolutions’ broader strategy of supporting the technologies and communities that IT professionals rely on to manage infrastructure, automate workflows, and maintain secure access to organizational systems.

Founded in Canada in 2010, Devolutions develops software for managing privileged access, passwords, and remote connections. Its products are used by more than one million people worldwide to simplify IT administration and strengthen the security of business technology environments.
