The Walt Disney Company announced the launch of “Verts,” a new vertical video discovery experience within the Disney+ mobile app designed to help subscribers find movies and shows more quickly. The feature marks the company’s first major step toward integrating short-form, mobile-first video browsing into its flagship streaming platform.
Available to Disney+ subscribers in the United States, Verts introduces a dynamic feed of vertical video clips from films and series available on the service. Users can access the feature by tapping the Verts icon in the mobile app’s navigation bar, which opens a vertically scrolling feed that allows viewers to swipe through moments and scenes from Disney+ titles. From within the feed, users can immediately add content to their Watchlist or jump directly into full playback.
The company said the feature is intended to make it easier for viewers to discover content across Disney’s catalog, which spans more than a century of storytelling. By presenting short, engaging moments from movies and television shows in a format designed for mobile viewing, Verts aims to replicate the intuitive discovery experience users already encounter on social video platforms.
Disney first unveiled the concept at its 2026 Global Tech & Data Showcase, positioning Verts as part of a broader effort to evolve the Disney+ interface for mobile-first engagement. The experience is powered by an advanced recommendation algorithm designed to tailor the vertical video feed to individual users, helping surface relevant content based on viewing habits and preferences.
The company noted that early experiments with vertical video discovery across Disney+ and ESPN have already shown increased engagement among viewers. The recommendation engine behind Verts dynamically adapts the feed so that each user sees personalized suggestions as they swipe through content.
While the initial launch focuses on content discovery within Disney’s existing entertainment library, the company indicated that the feature will expand over time. Future iterations could include additional storytelling formats, creator-driven content tied to fan communities, and new personalized experiences designed to deepen engagement with the platform.
Disney described the rollout as the first phase of a longer-term strategy to integrate vertical video into the Disney+ ecosystem, signaling a shift toward mobile-centric discovery that reflects how many audiences now consume and explore video content.
