District announced it raised $14.7 million in seed funding led by Andreessen Horowitz and Kindred Ventures, with participation from Greylock Partners and a group of angel investors and operators from the technology and commerce sectors.
Founded by former Snap employees Eddie Koai, Patrick Mandia, and Khoi Tran, District has developed an AI-powered commerce platform designed to help creators, entrepreneurs, and brands build and scale online commerce businesses without requiring coding or engineering resources.
The company said it has spent the past three years developing the platform and onboarding more than 1,000 businesses prior to launching in general availability. District enables users to create custom shopping experiences including live shopping, marketplaces, auctions, subscriptions, and community-driven commerce experiences.
District said current commerce tools have not evolved alongside shifts toward social, live, and community-driven buying experiences. According to the company, many existing platforms limit ownership, customization, economics, and experimentation opportunities for businesses operating online.
The platform includes several core products, including an AI Builder that generates storefronts and commerce features from prompts, a Commerce Manager for operational workflows such as payments and fulfillment, and backend services covering fraud prevention, customer support, dispute resolution, and seller and buyer protections.
District highlighted early customer traction across a range of commerce businesses. NikNax generated more than $5 million in 2025 with over 5,000 sellers using the platform, while Stacked Golf reported $150,000 in weekly sales with more than 1,000 active sellers. Other customers include Quentin Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema, Dibdit, and Midwest Box Breaks.
The company said the new funding will support continued investment in AI-powered commerce tools, operational services, and platform scaling efforts.
KEY QUOTES:
“Whenever a group of people forms around a shared interest, commerce naturally follows. We saw it everywhere, in fandoms, resale communities, and employee groups. People were already buying and selling with each other, but they were doing it with makeshift tools. District exists to turn those informal, high-trust marketplaces into real, scalable businesses. We’re building infrastructure so anyone with a product, audience, or idea can create their own commerce platform.”
Eddie Koai, CEO And Co-Founder, District
“As the cost of software development approaches zero, the winners will be platforms that combine speed, adaptability, and real infrastructure. District enables businesses to run complex commerce operations without the traditional overhead, handling infrastructure and operational layers behind the scenes so brands can easily invest in new and changing selling formats. District is well positioned to power a meaningful share of new commerce businesses created in the years ahead.”
