U.S. Special Operations Command awarded Ditto a $17 million contract to deploy its resilient edge data platform across USSOCOM. The Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies program awarded the contract.
The contract moves Ditto from pilot deployments into enterprise-wide fielding and is intended to enable real-time information sharing between personnel and autonomous systems operating at the tactical edge.
Ditto’s platform is designed for denied, degraded, intermittent, and limited connectivity environments where conventional cloud- or server-dependent systems can become unavailable.
The APFIT program was established through the fiscal 2022 National Defense Authorization Act to accelerate mature technologies developed by small businesses and non-traditional defense contractors into operational deployment.
Ditto said the award follows approximately three years of collaboration with Special Operations Forces users across multiple USSOCOM components.
The platform uses a peer-to-peer, server-optional architecture that allows devices to communicate directly and synchronize information even when traditional network connectivity is unavailable.
When connections are disrupted and later restored, Ditto said data automatically converges without data loss.
The system is also transport agnostic, allowing it to operate across different communications infrastructure and network conditions.
The contract was awarded through the U.S. Air Force’s Business and Enterprise Systems Product Innovation office and builds on Ditto’s work supporting Air Force Special Operations Command.
KEY QUOTES:
“Special operations don’t pause when the network drops, and neither can the data. That’s the entire reason Ditto exists. Crossing into enterprise fielding with the most demanding operators in the world is the clearest proof I can point to that it works where it matters most.”
Adam Fish, CEO and Co-Founder of Ditto
“What drew me to serve on Ditto’s Government Advisory Board was the platform’s operational relevance to the challenges SOF faces every day. In special operations, the difference between a successful mission and a failed one often comes down to who has the picture and who doesn’t. The Ditto platform is purpose-built for exactly the kind of contested environments SOF operates in.”
Rear Adm. Matthew Burns, U.S. Navy (Ret.)
“Years of end-user collaboration got us here. USSOCOM has operated alongside the Ditto platform in demanding environments, and this award reflects their confidence that it’s ready for the enterprise. The work ahead is about getting proven capability into the hands of more operators, faster. That’s what APFIT was designed to do, and that’s exactly what Ditto will deliver.”
Eric Hanft, SVP of Public Sector at Ditto
