DLA Piper: Abrar Hussain Joins Emerging Growth And Venture Capital Practice In Palo Alto

DLA Piper announced that Abrar Hussain has joined the firm’s Emerging Growth and Venture Capital practice as a partner in Palo Alto, further expanding its capabilities across life sciences, venture capital, and the broader innovation economy.

Hussain brings more than 25 years of experience spanning the investment funds, biotechnology, and financial services sectors. His practice includes advising clients on fund formation, fundraising, operations, limited partnership negotiations, portfolio company support, complex mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, licensing arrangements, and cross-border transactions. He most recently served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Samsara BioCapital, a hybrid public and private biotechnology investment firm with approximately $2.1 billion in assets under management and more than 100 portfolio companies.

According to DLA Piper, Hussain’s investor-side perspective enhances the firm’s ability to advise life sciences and technology clients on strategic transactions and growth opportunities. His arrival also continues the firm’s investment in its West Coast corporate practice. Over the past 18 months, DLA Piper has added partners Josh Seidenfeld, John Hutar, Frances Mosley, Brady Berg, Ken Funahashi, Sarah Chambless, and Michael Dorf.
