DLA Piper has added Gary Anderson as a partner in its Insurance practice in Boston, strengthening the firm’s insurance regulatory and compliance capabilities.
Anderson advises insurers, reinsurers, and other insurance industry participants on regulatory and compliance matters, disputes, and insurance-related investment activity.
He served as Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners from 2024 to 2025 and previously served as Commissioner of Insurance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 2017 to 2024.
Across those roles, Anderson was involved in developing regulatory strategies for domestic and international insurance bodies.
The appointment gives DLA Piper clients access to an advisor with firsthand experience overseeing insurance regulation at both the state and national levels at a time of increasing regulatory scrutiny across the sector.
DLA Piper’s insurance practice advises on corporate transactions and M&A, regulation and distribution, economic and trade sanctions, coverage disputes, restructuring, digital transformation, insurtech, privacy, cybersecurity, and emergency response.
