DLA Piper announced it has welcomed John Frantz as a partner in the Telecom Practice. Based in New York, Frantz brings to the firm substantial litigation and regulatory, combined with industry business knowledge based on over two decades of leadership roles at Verizon.
As the former Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Verizon Business Group, Frantz has experience leading telecommunications regulatory compliance initiatives, navigating regulatory disputes, and negotiating complex commercial agreements and content licensing deals and settlements. And his distinguished career at Verizon also included serving as Head of Corporate Litigation, Head of Patent Litigation, and Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Product and New Business.
During his time at Verizon, Frantz led legal operations for a newly created business unit that provided mission-critical services to businesses and government customers worldwide. And he partnered with business teams to design and implement revenue growth and product development strategies and interfaced frequently with leadership on strategic initiatives. Frantz also helped ensure company compliance with rapidly evolving regulations, including all applicable FCC rules, customer disclosure requirements, and privacy and information security obligations.
