DLA Piper has added Michael (Mike) Makhotin as a partner in its leveraged finance practice in New York, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in complex financing transactions.
Makhotin joins DLA Piper after being elevated to partner at Cahill LLP earlier this year. His practice focuses on a wide range of sophisticated financing matters, including syndicated and direct lending transactions as well as offerings of high-yield debt securities.
He represents arrangers, sponsors, and public companies across various credit facilities, including term and revolving credit facilities, asset-based and reserve-based financings, bridge loans, mezzanine financings, and back leverage structures. He also advises initial purchasers in connection with secured and unsecured note offerings.
DLA Piper said the addition reinforces its leveraged finance platform and enhances its ability to advise clients navigating complex credit markets. The firm advises issuers, underwriters, selling shareholders, sponsors, arrangers, lead managers, originators, dealers, trustees, and depositaries across a broad range of capital markets offerings, including equity, equity-linked, and debt securities, structured financings, project financings, and securitizations.
