DMD Systems Recovery, a governance-focused IT asset disposition (ITAD) company and Certified B Corporation, announced the acquisition of Lifespan International, a technology lifecycle management and ITAD provider. The transaction brings together two companies focused on extending the useful life of retired technology assets while helping organizations improve data security, value recovery, reuse, and environmental outcomes.
Based in Tempe, Arizona, DMD said the acquisition strengthens its Reuse First ITAD platform and expands its ability to serve enterprise, education, public sector, commercial, hyperscale, and cloud customers throughout North America. Lifespan contributes more than two decades of experience in IT asset disposition, refurbishment, resale, data destruction, recycling, and reporting.
The combined company will offer a broader range of services, including ITAD governance frameworks, enterprise program management, hyperscaler and cloud data center services, and integrated reporting capabilities through direct technology connections. DMD said the acquisition is designed to improve transparency, accountability, and lifecycle management outcomes for customers.
According to the company, its Reuse First philosophy has helped protect more than 20 billion petabytes of data and recover 60 billion files across deployments. DMD also reported saving more than 3 million pounds of CO₂ during the past year. The company holds Certified B Corporation status with an Impact Score of 102.3 and was ranked No. 27 on the 2025 Real Leaders Top Impact Companies list, where it was the only ITAD provider recognized.
DMD said Lifespan will be integrated into its broader ITAD platform while maintaining a focus on client continuity, operational discipline, secure asset management, and improved lifecycle outcomes.
Lifespan International, formerly a Bluum company, has been an ITAD provider for more than 20 years and serves global brands, major corporations, and government agencies. The company is known for its data destruction, sanitization, remarketing, and recycling capabilities and has received recognition from Gartner and other industry organizations.
KEY QUOTES:
“Lifespan is a natural fit for DMD because we believe in the same basic premise. The end of an asset’s first life should not be the beginning of chaos. It should be planned, governed, measured, and proven. Our job is to help clients see the full picture: where the asset went, what data was removed, what value was recovered, what was reused, what was recycled, and what evidence supports it. This acquisition gives us more reach, more capability, and a broader foundation to do that work.
ITAD is usually treated as the last step. That is the mistake. The end should be designed at the beginning. When companies fail to plan for disposition, they lose value, create security exposure, waste time, and make reporting harder than it needs to be. Lifespan helps us expand the practical side of lifecycle execution. DMD brings the governance structure with direct technology connections to make it accountable. That combination is where the market is going.”
