Doctrine has acquired Maite.ai, marking its entry into the Spanish market and reinforcing its ambition to build a sovereign European leader in legal artificial intelligence.

The deal is Doctrine’s fifth acquisition in less than three years and expands its presence to France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Luxembourg. Following the transaction, Doctrine’s customer base grows to 27,000 legal professionals across Europe.

Founded in 2024, Maite.ai has quickly established itself as a leading legal AI provider in Spain. In 2025, the company increased annual recurring revenue twentyfold and now serves more than 2,000 customers, including solo practitioners, major law firms, corporate legal departments and public administrations.

Maite.ai offers an AI-powered legal copilot that supports the full legal workflow, drawing on legislation, case law and user-uploaded private documentation. The company says its technology achieved a 99 percent success rate on the Spanish judiciary access exam, underscoring its accuracy and reliability.

Doctrine said the acquisition strengthens its strategy of building a European platform tailored to local legal systems. The company combines deep expertise in national legal data such as laws, regulations, commentary and case law with private firm documents including contracts and pleadings. It positions its offering as grounded in European technological sovereignty, fully compliant with GDPR and certified under ISO 27001 information security standards.

The transaction follows Doctrine’s earlier acquisitions of Legaltile and Jobexit in 2023, and Dejure and Predictice in 2025. The company now serves 80 of France’s top 100 law firms and supports both private and public sector clients. With its expansion into Spain, Doctrine aims to further extend its leadership across continental Europe.

Maite.ai will retain its brand, headquarters and team, with plans for significant hiring to support continued growth in Spain. Doctrine said the platform will benefit from synergies with its decade of artificial intelligence expertise.

The expansion positions Doctrine to address the needs of more than one million lawyers and legal professionals across its markets, creating substantial growth opportunities across Europe.
