Docusign has introduced Docusign PDF Editor, a new desktop application that brings PDF creation and editing capabilities directly into the company’s Intelligent Agreement Management platform. The new offering is designed to connect document preparation with Docusign’s existing signature and post-signature agreement management workflows.
The launch addresses a common friction point in contract workflows: documents often need to be edited in a separate application before they can be uploaded and sent for signature. Docusign noted that more than 70% of its eSignature requests begin as PDF files, meaning even relatively small edits can require users to move documents between multiple systems.
With Docusign PDF Editor, users can prepare and modify PDFs without leaving the broader Docusign workflow. The company said the product is intended to reduce manual handoffs, minimize version confusion, and decrease the need for sensitive documents to move unnecessarily between separate applications.
The new application expands Docusign’s Intelligent Agreement Management platform beyond creating, signing, and managing agreements by adding native document-editing capabilities. Docusign said the platform is already used for eSignature by 95% of Fortune 500 companies.
Docusign PDF Editor is designed for teams across legal, sales, procurement, human resources, and other business functions that regularly create and manage agreements. Users can edit text and images, combine multiple files, reorder or delete pages, redact sensitive information, add annotations, create forms, and convert between file types.
Once a document is ready, users can send it directly into Docusign’s signature workflow without manually uploading the file again. This creates a more continuous process between document preparation and execution.
The product also maintains an auditable record of changes made before signature. After a document has been signed, editing is locked to preserve the integrity of the executed agreement and its associated history.
After execution, agreements can move into Docusign’s existing AI-powered management capabilities. Docusign said teams can use its platform to answer questions about contracts, track important dates such as renewals, identify potential risks, and surface other agreement insights.
By incorporating PDF editing directly into the agreement lifecycle, Docusign is seeking to reduce the number of separate applications companies need when moving a contract from initial preparation through signature and ongoing management.
The company said the integration could also help organizations maintain greater consistency around document versions. Rather than exporting an agreement, modifying it in a separate PDF tool, and then uploading a new copy into Docusign, users can make changes and continue through the signature process within a connected workflow.
Docusign PDF Editor will be available for IAM and eSignature customers to purchase beginning November 2, 2026. The initial release will support English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, with additional languages planned for 2027.
Docusign currently serves more than 1.9 million customers and more than one billion people across over 180 countries. Its Intelligent Agreement Management platform is designed to help organizations create, execute, analyze, and manage agreements while connecting contract data with broader business systems.
