Dorsey & Whitney has hired corporate partner Marcello Hallake into its Mergers & Acquisitions group in New York, adding a veteran cross-border deal lawyer with deep experience across Latin America and other international markets.
Hallake joins from DLA Piper, where he was a partner. Dorsey said he brings more than 30 years of experience advising on complex, high-profile global transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, joint ventures, privatizations, and project and structured financings. The firm highlighted his work in heavily regulated and politically sensitive environments, with sector strength spanning energy and natural resources, infrastructure, telecommunications, media, healthcare, and technology.
Dorsey also noted Hallake’s multilingual capabilities, saying he speaks French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, and Dutch. He earned his law degree at Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium and an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, along with graduate studies in public and international affairs.
