Amazon’s Twitch game streaming service recently announced it appointed Doug Scott as the chief marketing officer. Scott was previously the chief marketing officer at Zynga.

While working at Zynga, Scott oversaw the global marketing team for more than three years. And before that, Scott also worked as an advisor at YouTube Music, a chief marketing officer at BandPage, the VP of Marketing & Revenue at DeNA, and the CEO and co-founder of Lionside.

Scott is succeeding Kate Jhaveri. Jhaveri was the chief marketing officer of Twitch between 2017 and 2019 and now she is the chief marketing officer for the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Recently, Twitch hired Sarah Iooss as the Head of Sales, Americas — who was the EVP of Revenue at Mic for a couple of years after working at Viacom for 10 years. And Twitch also hired former Google executive Daniel Clancy as an EVP and Lenke Taylor as the chief people officer over the summer.

“Twitch is revolutionizing entertainment through its massive and highly engaged community of creators and fans,” said Scott in a statement via TechCrunch. “I could not be more excited to join this incredible team and help to bring Twitch’s unique culture, brand and its passionate community to new audiences and global markets.”

Twitch has been expanding beyond gaming in recent years. For example, Twitch has signed deals with the NBA and the National Football League (NFL) for streaming some games. And Twitch also launched its own game called Twitch Sings — which is a karaoke game that features live singing and multiplayer modes.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Doug Scott to Twitch as our chief marketing officer,” added Twitch chief operating officer Sara Clemens. “Doug has deep experience extending brands into new markets across games and entertainment industries, making him the ideal fit to lead Twitch’s marketing strategy. As Twitch continues to grow, Doug will play an integral role in extending the brand beyond endemic audiences, supporting our incredible creators and expanding our presence in global markets.”

Twitch is estimated to be valued at about $3.8 billion. And Twitch users have live-streamed over 2.5 billion hours of content on its platforms.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for Twitch, and we’re thrilled to bring Doug on board,” explained Twitch chief revenue officer Walker Jacobs via Adweek. “He brings both experience and leadership at a key moment in our next phase of growth, and I can’t wait to work with him.”
