- Draftkings Inc (NASDAQ: DKNG) announced that Michael Jordan has joined the company as a special advisor to the board of directors
The pre-market stock price of Draftkings Inc (NASDAQ: DKNG) is up over 10% upon the company announcing that Michael Jordan has joined the company as a special advisor to the board of directors.
Jordan — who is a member of the National Basketball Association Hall of Fame, serves as chairman and owner of the Charlotte Hornets franchise, and was recently featured in the popular documentary The Last Dance — will gain an equity interest in the company as part of the deal.
“Michael Jordan is among the most important figures in sports and culture, who forever redefined the modern athlete and entrepreneur,” said DraftKings CEO Jason Robins. “The strategic counsel and business acumen Michael brings to our board is invaluable, and I am excited to have him join our team.”
Jordan plans to offer DraftKings expertise in product development, strategy, diversity, equity and belonging, marketing activities, and several other key initiatives
DraftKings went public earlier this year following a merger with Diamond Eagle Acquisition and gaming technology company SBTech.
