  • Dropbox has announced that it is now rolling out Dropbox Transfer for all users

Dropbox head of new products James McNiece announced recently that Dropbox Transfer is being rolled out to all users. Originally, Dropbox Transfer launched in beta earlier this year in order to make sharing files easier.

Dropbox Transfer was built for a time when you have to send large collections of final files to customers or other stakeholders.

“Transfer is our answer to a common problem: Sometimes you simply want to hand off files. No giving people edit access to your originals, no links that let people download updates you make later—just, ‘Here are your files!’ While email might work for a JPEG or two, collections of large multimedia files easily go well beyond the typical 25 MB attachment limit,” said McNiece in a blog post. “And Dropbox shared links are best for when recipients need access to always up-to-date files.”

Dropbox Transfer allows you to send 100GB of files in a few clicks. You simply have to select files from your hard drive or Dropbox account to create your transfer. And you can also password protect it and set an expiration date to encourage recipients to download the files.

From there, you will get a link that you can send to anyone even if they are not on Dropbox. After sending it, viewership stats let you see how many times the transfer’s been accessed.

Dropbox has also added several new features to Transfer that makes it easier and more customizable. For example, now you can start a transfer from the Dropbox desktop and iOS apps along with dropbox.com. And you can access transfers that others send to you through the Dropbox iOS app. Plus Dropbox is adding the ability to customize the design with a background and logo that will appear when recipients view your transfers.
