Drummond Scientific Company has announced the acquisition of Accu-Glass, a St. Louis-based manufacturer of high-precision glass capillaries used in medical and diagnostic applications. The deal expands Drummond’s manufacturing footprint from a single-site facility to a broader network of capability-driven businesses and signals the company’s broader vision to build a portfolio of complementary companies serving the life science and MedTech communities. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded more than 60 years ago, Accu-Glass brings proprietary glass-drawing processes, custom-built manufacturing equipment, and advanced measurement systems to enable the production of highly specific glass capillary components at scale. The company works with customers from early concept through production, designing solutions, developing prototypes, and manufacturing finished capillary and other glass components for diagnostic and life science devices. Under the agreement, Accu-Glass will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary with all employees retained and operations continuing at its current facility, allowing Drummond to expand its high-throughput, custom-automated manufacturing capabilities without disrupting existing customer relationships.
Drummond and Accu-Glass have operated in parallel for decades, partnering with and competing for many of the same businesses across the MedTech industry. Drummond, based near Philadelphia, brings more than 75 years of manufacturing and automation expertise and said the acquisition reflects both an immediate capability expansion and a longer-term strategic intent to serve customers more completely across the life sciences value chain. The company said it intends to continue exploring acquisition opportunities that strengthen its platform and position it as an indispensable partner across MedTech and life sciences.
