DualBird: $25 Million Raised To Accelerate Cloud Native Data Processing Engine

By Amit Chowdhry ● Nov 6, 2025

DualBird announced that it has raised a combined $25 million in Seed and Series A funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with additional participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Angular Ventures, and Uncork Capital. The Boston-based data infrastructure company is focused on solving a growing challenge facing enterprises: the rising cost and time required to process data at scale as AI workloads expand.

DualBird has developed a cloud native engine that merges hardware and software capabilities into a single processing layer. The company delivers hardware-grade acceleration through a lightweight plug-in, allowing enterprise workloads to run 10 to 100 times faster while reducing infrastructure costs by 50 to 90 percent. Customers can adopt the technology without rearchitecting their workflows or modifying existing systems.

The rising cost of computing has become a critical issue across industries. Analysts estimate that meeting the demand for data and AI processing could require nearly $7 trillion in new data center infrastructure by 2030. Traditional solutions, such as adding GPUs or optimizing runtimes, often result in temporary or marginal efficiency gains rather than long-term scalability. DualBird’s approach is designed to address the issue at the architectural level.

The company’s founding team, which includes veterans from Amazon AWS and the semiconductor sector, built the platform to leverage cloud instances containing rewritable hardware. This enables customers to access specialized processing capabilities instantly in the cloud rather than deploying custom physical hardware. The improvement in processing performance also allows more frequent retraining of AI models and more cost-efficient analytics workloads.

With the new funding, DualBird plans to expand its sales and customer success operations, deepen enterprise partnerships, and prepare its platform for broader general availability in early 2026.

DualBird’s founders believe that data processing will follow a trajectory similar to AI compute, where specialized hardware and software integration became essential to performance at scale. The company’s engine is designed to serve as the performance layer for data workloads across various industries.

KEY QUOTES

“Data processing is the biggest workload still stuck on general-purpose CPUs. It deserves purpose-built processors just like AI has GPUs. Companies are pouring millions into data pipelines, AI data infrastructure, and analytics, but existing architecture cannot keep up.”

Amir Gilad, Co-Founder and CEO, DualBird

“DualBird is fusing the stack, merging hardware and software into a single engine. With the results we are seeing in customer pilots, in 5 years from now, the processing of every Byte of data will go through DualBird.”

Gilad Tal, Co-Founder and CTO, DualBird

“DualBird solves one of the hardest problems in enterprise computing – how to get more performance without overhauling infrastructure. Their ability to deliver that leap through pure software speaks to the team’s exceptional depth in both hardware and cloud systems.”

David Gussarsky, Partner, Lightspeed Venture Partners
