Duck Creek Technologies has appointed enterprise software and AI product executive Jose Lazares as chief product officer, tasking him with leading the company’s global product organization and advancing its AI-driven product strategy across Duck Creek’s cloud platform.
In the role, Lazares will help set product and platform vision, translate strategic priorities into customer roadmaps, and accelerate platform innovation as insurers increase investment in automation and AI to modernize core operations across underwriting, policy administration, and claims.
Chief Executive Officer Hardeep Gulati said Lazares’ background in building AI-enabled platforms for regulated enterprises aligns with Duck Creek’s focus on turning emerging AI capabilities into practical products insurers can adopt with confidence. Gulati pointed to Lazares’ experience leading large global teams and launching hybrid and “agentic” AI products that connect AI innovation to measurable customer outcomes and revenue growth.
Lazares joins Duck Creek from Beyond Limits, where he served as chief product officer and led product strategy and development across engineering, product management, user experience, and customer operations. At Beyond Limits, he launched a low-code hybrid agentic AI platform that combined generative and symbolic AI to support decisioning and process automation, and worked on enterprise deployments and strategic AI partnerships, including in the energy sector.
Earlier in his career, Lazares held senior leadership roles at Onna, Intapp, Cisco, Oracle, and PeopleSoft, with a focus on building and scaling cloud-based platforms across SaaS, PaaS, and enterprise environments.
Lazares said Duck Creek’s cloud platform is positioned to help insurers apply agentic AI to speed insight generation, accelerate decision-making and automate workflows across the insurance lifecycle, and he signaled a focus on developing what he described as an agentic orchestration platform tailored to insurance.
He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
