Doug Recker’s Background

Doug Recker

What is Doug Recker’s background? Recker said:

“After completing my active duty in the Marine Corps, I began my career by selling long-distance and fiber optic lines through door-to-door sales for multiple companies. This experience sharpened my sales abilities and instilled in me the significance of perseverance and adaptability. I thrived in this role and gained essential knowledge of the backbone fiber industry, which paved the way for my transition into the vital and ever-evolving data center field.”

Formation Of The Company

How did the idea for the company come together? Recker shared:

“Creating large data centers is expensive, often requiring hundreds of millions of dollars to build. When I built my first data center in Jacksonville, FL, we were fortunate to experience tremendous success and found ourselves needing to expand. I decided to take a modular approach to building out my second location to conserve capital while growing my business.”

“This decision led to me learning how to take a modular approach to construction and always maintain a positive cash flow at my site. Once I knew this formula, I could deploy it anywhere with a power source and fiber. The tier 3 and 4 markets have a huge need for this technology, and I learned how to service these markets before it was even a thought in the industry. Duos Edge AI strives to continue bringing this cutting-edge technology to those markets.”

Core Products

What are the company’s core products and services? Recker explained:

“Duos Edge AI specializes in adaptive, versatile, and streamlined edge data center solutions. We provide redundant fiber networks, low latency speeds and cutting-edge AI and computer capabilities directly to school districts, hospitals, local manufacturing, farming, and municipal entities in small towns and communities in tier 3 and tier 4 markets.”

Challenges Faced

What are the challenges the Digital Infrastructure industry faces today? Recker acknowledged:

“Scalability has emerged as a major challenge, particularly with the rise of AI and adoption of new technologies. Digital infrastructure needs to be flexible enough to accommodate the increasing data demands. Data centers in particular are incredibly power and resource-consumptive, so navigating the exponentially increasing demand for this technology while balancing regulations, access to necessary resources and constantly evolving standards is a definite challenge. At the same time, this is not a challenge that is going away, so finding creative approaches to providing this technology to markets that need it in a sustainable and accessible manner is crucial, and that is at the crux of what we do.”

Evolution Of The Industry

How has the Industry evolved since launching Duos Edge AI? Recker noted:

“Demand for connectivity and computing power in the industry have risen significantly since Duos Edge AI was launched. As demand has ramped up, we feel that the education sector has been overlooked. Educational organizations are in need of high computing power and that need should be addressed, which is what we are working to do through our focus on the education sector.”

“Our first edge data center launched in Amarillo, TX at the Region 16 Education Service Center to bring these advanced technological solutions to the area. As the industry continues to evolve, we hope that this initiative to promote equitable access to technology through edge computing solutions can set a potential model for similar projects nationwide so that the education sector can remain ahead of the curve.”

Significant Milestones

What have been some of Duos Edge’s most significant milestones? Recker cited:

“A few recent significant milestones are outlined below:

– Region 16 Partnership and Launch of First Edge Data Center – In September 2024, we launched our first edge data center at the Region 16 Education Service Center in Amarillo, TX. This strategic partnership aims to bring high-speed connectivity and advanced technological solutions to classrooms throughout the Texas Panhandle, supporting student learning with reliable and high-speed internet access.

– Accu-Tech Partnership – We partnered with Accu-Tech to accelerate the deployment of edge computing infrastructure across the US, addressing the growing demand for low-latency data processing and improved connectivity in underserved markets.

– Edge Data Center Expansion in Texas – In November 2024, we announced the acquisition and early deployment of three new edge data centers across Texas. Built by Accu-Tech, these edge data centers are set to provide low-latency, high-speed internet access tailored for remote districts.”

Development Project Location

What is unique about the location you selected for your development project? Recker replied:

“When it comes to the Amarillo, TX location specifically, we at Duos Edge AI have cultivated an excellent relationship with the Region 16 Education Service Center, which has been instrumental in our decision to establish an edge data center in this area. This partnership has given us valuable local insights and support, enhancing the success of the project. In addition, the edge data center is strategically positioned within a cluster of school districts, making it an ideal educational hub and maximizing our reach and impact. This central position allows nearby schools to easily access connectivity.”

“The area also offers superior network infrastructure, resulting in low-latency connections, which is crucial for delivering seamless, real-time educational services and applications. This site creates an ideal environment for our edge data center to thrive and make a significant impact on the local community, enhancing our potential for growth in Texas.”

Challenges/Opportunities

What challenges/opportunities are you solving for the industry with your project? Recker pointed out:

“There is significant disparity experienced by the markets we serve in terms of access to technology infrastructure, which can impede progress and advancement for those living there as well as for the industry as a whole. By establishing data centers directly within these towns, we aim to foster technological advancement and confer competitive advantages to local businesses while concurrently fostering job creation.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Recker affirmed:

“Duos Edge AI, is set to revolutionize tier 3 and tier 4 markets. Our innovative approach will eliminate the need for these markets to travel long distances for these services, which will level the playing field with tier 1 markets and unlock new opportunities for growth and development. Our solution will empower rural America with the same level of connectivity and advantages enjoyed in highly connected urban areas and is designed to ensure that children in rural America have access to the same level of connectivity and opportunities as their counterparts in highly connected tier-1 markets.”

Future Company Goals

What are some of Duos Edge’s future company goals? Recker concluded:

“We have several goals to accomplish our overall mission by maintaining our current focus on the education sector while simultaneously moving into more industries, such as healthcare. By expanding into the healthcare industry, we could provide compute power for medical portals, ensuring access to those resources in rural areas specifically.”

“In addition, we will aim to increase our geographical presence by deploying edge data centers in new locations, including Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida. We also have a current goal to get up to 15 units deployed and generating revenue by the end of 2025. As we expand, we will continue seeking strategic partnerships and new opportunities to bring crucial digital infrastructure to underserved communities.”
