Ecosystem Investment Partners: $400 Million Fifth Fund Closed

By Amit Chowdhry • Oct 13, 2025

Ecosystem Investment Partners (EIP), a real asset private equity firm, has announced the closing of its latest fund, Ecosystem Investment Partners V, L.P., which has attracted over $400 million in capital commitments.

This marks another significant milestone in the firm’s ongoing strategy, consistent with prior funds, aimed at investing in large-scale projects focused on restoring and preserving wetlands, streams, water quality, biodiversity, and habitats throughout the United States.

Since its establishment in 2006, EIP has raised nearly $1.5 billion in total capital. This places the firm among the largest investment managers with specialized expertise in the environmental restoration sector. EIP has built a reputation for its extensive track record in investing within the natural capital market, providing a solid foundation for its ongoing and future endeavors.

The fundraising for EIP V has garnered considerable interest and support from a diverse range of existing and new limited partners across North America and Europe. These partners include public and corporate pension funds, endowments, family offices, and various institutional investors.

EIP V has already begun demonstrating significant momentum, having deployed over $125 million across nine diversified portfolio investments in states such as Florida, Kentucky, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, California, and Louisiana. These investments include both the development of new greenfield mitigation banks and the acquisition of existing asset portfolios. Collectively, these efforts aim to restore and conserve over 8,000 acres of wetlands and wildlife habitats, as well as 23 miles of streams. This active deal flow showcases the firm’s robust execution capabilities and its commitment to making a meaningful environmental impact.

Established with a clear focus on ecological restoration and conservation, EIP aims to address the increasing demand for environmental offsets that mitigate the effects of unavoidable impacts on wetlands, streams, water quality, and other critical natural resources. This demand arises from various infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and residential developments.

EIP possesses a track record spanning two decades of effective collaboration with an extensive network of public and private entities. This includes partnerships with natural resource agencies, domain experts, conservation organizations, and local stakeholders. Such collaborations provide EIP with unique market access and high-quality investment opportunities, benefiting both the firm and its limited partners. EIP’s experienced team is equipped to systematically identify opportunities in some of the most active and diverse markets while also providing the operational expertise essential for achieving successful ecological restoration and stewardship outcomes throughout the U.S.
