EJF Capital has completed an approximately $273 million securitization backed by securities and debt issued primarily by U.S. community banks and insurance companies.
The transaction, named TruPS Financials Note Securitization 2026-4, is collateralized by trust preferred securities, insurance surplus notes, and subordinated debt.
The closing represents EJF Capital’s 20th public securitization since 2015 and its fourth securitization transaction completed during 2026.
It is also the firm’s seventh securitization completed over the past 18 months.
Bank of America served as structurer and arranger for the transaction.
Bank of America and Piper Sandler acted as co-placement agents.
EJF Capital has developed a broad alternative investment platform focused heavily on opportunities influenced by regulatory changes across financial services and other sectors.
The firm manages investments across private credit, equities, litigation finance, real estate, and venture capital.
As of June 30, 2026, EJF Capital managed approximately $5.3 billion in total assets.
That figure includes approximately $2.9 billion in collateralized debt obligation assets managed through affiliated entities.
EJF was founded by Manny Friedman and Neal Wilson and has operated for more than two decades.
The firm is headquartered near Washington, D.C., and also maintains a research office in London.
Its securitization strategy has become an increasingly active component of the broader platform, with multiple transactions completed during the past two years.
Banks and other financial institutions have historically used trust preferred securities as a form of hybrid capital that combines characteristics of debt and equity.
EJF’s securitization package pools these and related securities into structured investment products for institutional investors.
The latest transaction expands EJF’s securitization platform while allowing the firm to continue deploying and recycling capital across community bank, insurance, and other financial-sector credit opportunities.
