Elbit Systems announced it has been awarded contracts worth about $275 million to supply an Asia-Pacific customer with an advanced airborne self-protection package for a helicopter platform, including an electronic warfare (EW) suite and the company’s Mini-MUSIC direct infrared countermeasure (DIRCM) system. The work is scheduled to be carried out over five years.
Under the contracts, Elbit will deliver an integrated EW suite intended to improve aircraft survivability by detecting, identifying and responding to missile and other threats. The company said the package combines electronic sensing, signal processing, and countermeasure capabilities to provide early warning, threat identification, and automated responses across a broad range of threats.
Elbit will also supply its Mini-MUSIC DIRCM, designed to protect small- and medium-sized rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft from infrared-guided missiles. The system uses laser-based countermeasures alongside tracking technologies to detect incoming missiles and attempt to disrupt them before impact, the company said, citing operational experience accumulated over extensive flight hours.
The solutions will be tailored to the customer’s specific helicopter platform and operational requirements, Elbit said. The company added that the award follows other airborne self-protection agreements it has secured in recent years with customers that include NATO and European nations.
Elbit, an Israel-based defense technology company, said it employs about 20,000 people globally and reported $1.922 billion in revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30, 2025, with an order backlog of $25.2 billion as of that date.
