The Electronic Transactions Association (ETA), a leading trade association representing the digital payments industry, announced it has acquired the American Transaction Processors Coalition (ATPC), a move designed to strengthen its role as a central voice for the payments ecosystem.
ETA represents more than 500 member companies across the payments landscape and focuses on advocacy, education, and business development. By integrating ATPC, the organization aims to expand its influence on federal and state policy issues while enhancing member engagement and educational initiatives.
The acquisition brings additional expertise in public policy and advocacy, with ATPC Executive Director Jay Morgan joining ETA as an advisor. His experience is expected to bolster ETA’s ability to address regulatory and legislative challenges facing the industry.
ATPC has played a notable role in advancing payments industry education, including launching the FinTech Academy, which provides curriculum across the University System of Georgia. The coalition has also supported a large payments workforce, with over 40,000 individuals employed in the sector in Georgia alone.
ETA said the combined organization will benefit from ATPC’s experience and further strengthen its ability to support innovation, trust, and policy development across the payments ecosystem. The association’s members collectively process approximately $57 trillion annually in global purchases and peer-to-peer payments.
