Ellucian announced that Daniel Greenstein has been appointed as Chief of Industry Transformation. He will report directly to President and CEO Laura Ipsen as part of the Office of the CEO. In this role, Greenstein will lead the strategy for the higher education system and expand collaboration with state systems, policymakers, and institutional networks to accelerate modernization across the global higher education sector.
Greenstein previously served as Chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, where he led a major system redesign to improve access, affordability, and student outcomes across 14 universities. He also led the Postsecondary Success program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He served as Vice Provost at the University of California, Office of the President, guiding system-wide initiatives in research, online learning, and data analytics.
At Ellucian, Greenstein will work closely with product, strategy, and go-to-market teams to support institutional sustainability and student success through technology modernization. Ellucian’s platform currently serves over 2,800 customers in 50 countries and supports more than 20 million students.
The company stated that Greenstein’s background in both public higher education and philanthropy positions him to advance strategic partnerships and help institutions transition to more modern technology environments.
