elobau announced that it has acquired Hamburg-based recalm through an asset deal. recalm develops audio, voice, and active noise-canceling systems for off-highway and industrial applications.

The acquisition expands elobau’s portfolio with additional technologies for human-machine interaction.

The two companies had previously worked together on recalm’s first product, the ANCOR headrest. The retrofit system is used in driver cabins of heavy off-highway machines.

The ANCOR headrest combines loudspeakers, microphones, and sensors to reduce vehicle noise perceived by operators without requiring headphones. The system also supports hands-free calling, music, and radio communication devices.

Through the acquisition, elobau gains key technologies, products, and development resources from recalm.

The new subsidiary, recalm GmbH, will be based in Hamburg and established within the ensian group. recalm’s previous production operations will be transferred to elobau in Leutkirch.

elobau said production in Leutkirch is expected to begin as early as June, supported by existing processes, an established organization, and current supplier relationships.

The acquisition strengthens elobau’s headquarters and helps safeguard jobs.

For elobau, the deal represents another step in expanding its portfolio across sensor technology, operating solutions, and HMI technologies. The company said recalm also opens access to additional markets and strengthens its position as a solution provider for modern machine operation and machine interaction.

KEY QUOTES:

“By acquiring recalm, we are strategically expanding our portfolio to include audio, voice and noise-control technologies. Combining these with our existing expertise in sensor technology and operating systems creates new opportunities for integrated solutions in human-machine interaction.”
