Emerald Technology Ventures announced that its Global Water Fund II has reached €100 million in commitments following new investments from Temasek and the Grundfos Foundation. The milestone builds on a €60 million first close announced in late 2025 and highlights growing institutional and corporate interest in technologies designed to improve water resilience and infrastructure worldwide.
The Zurich-based venture capital firm said the fund brings together investors from across industry and finance to accelerate innovation throughout the water value chain. New investors Temasek and the Grundfos Foundation join an existing base that includes Veralto Corporation, Ecolab, SKion Water, and Oxy Technology Ventures.
Global Water Fund II is targeting a final size between €150 million and €180 million. Emerald said the fund will invest in early- to growth-stage companies developing solutions that strengthen water infrastructure and business resilience. Areas of focus include advanced water treatment, reuse technologies, digitally enhanced monitoring and prediction systems, automation tools, and solutions designed to address emerging contaminants.
The firm said the diverse investor base underscores the urgency of deploying capital into water technologies capable of addressing global sustainability and climate challenges across industries and geographies.
Emerald’s first water-focused fund has already supported several water technology companies that later exited to major industry players, including SUEZ, Xylem, and BASF. The firm said its investment platform has also helped enable collaborations between startups and large corporations. Examples include Microsoft’s work with Kilimo on artificial intelligence-powered irrigation and with FIDO on technologies designed to reduce water loss in infrastructure networks.
Founded in 2000, Emerald Technology Ventures manages and advises more than €1 billion in assets. The firm invests in startups tackling large-scale sustainability challenges across sectors, including energy, materials, water, agriculture, and industrial technology, operating from offices in Zurich, Toronto, and Singapore.
