Empeon is a company that builds intuitive human capital management (HCM) software and a white-glove implementation process. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Empeon VP of Product Peretz Rapoport to learn more about the company.
Peretz Rapoport’s Background
Rapoport grew up in Israel and moved to the United States when he was 19. And Rapoport said
“I worked in the property management space as a payroll director. In that role, I used Empeon’s platform and became invested in the impact of their solutions. I later joined the Empeon team as an account manager in 2010 and ascended through the organizational structure, becoming a Vice President of Product in 2022.”
Formation Of Empeon
How did the idea for the company come together? Rapoport shared:
“Empeon was founded by Israel Krausz in 1998 under the name ADS. It began as a comprehensive paycheck processing provider supported by deep industry knowledge, quality technology, and impeccable customer service. The platform helped HR leaders compile necessary information each pay period to ensure accuracy. Since then, we have evolved our understanding of the payroll sector and the greater HR industry, expanding and improving our suite of solutions to include Time and Labor Management, Talent Acquisition tools, Benefits Administration, and more.”
Favorite Memory
What has been Rapoport’s favorite memory working for the company so far? Rapoport reflected:
“I specifically remember traveling to a client’s location and working overnight with their team to ensure their software was set up properly by their deadline. It was an illustration of the dedication and camaraderie we’ve built within the company and with our client base.”
Core Products
What are the company’s core products and features? Rapoport explained:
“Staffing continues to be a challenge for the healthcare space. Between an aging population and workforce shortages, increased patient loads are resulting in caregiver burnout and high turnover rates. The challenges of healthcare staffing are exacerbated by complex regulations that differ by state and administrative burdens that take time away from patient care.”
“Many healthcare organizations struggle to efficiently handle critical workforce management tasks such as onboarding, scheduling, time tracking and payroll. Empeon offers healthcare providers a comprehensive workforce management solution catered to the industry’s intricacies.”
“Empeon’s features include:
- Employee record keeping.

By centralizing and automating administrative HR tasks while still accommodating complex staffing requirements, Empeon aims to help healthcare organizations optimize their most valuable resource — their workforce. Our software allows providers to focus their time and energy where it matters most: delivering quality patient care.”
Challenges Faced
Has Rapoport faced any specific bottlenecks in his sector of work recently? Rapoport acknowledged:
“The home healthcare industry has seen a number of complex regulatory changes in recent years, and more are on the horizon. Healthcare organizations must navigate these hurdles while understaffed and overworked. Industry-specific HCM solutions are a necessity for healthcare organizations to manage their staff so they can deliver the best patient care possible.”
Evolution Of Empeon’s Technology
How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Rapoport noted:
“In recent years, Empeon has evolved to keep up with an ever-changing healthcare space burdened by economic uncertainty, legislative changes and staffing shortages. We’ve since rolled out the beta release of our Scheduling solution, a digital-first and timely addition to simplify and enhance healthcare workforce management. We’ve partnered with Earned Wage Access (EWA) solutions, including Tapcheck, ZayZoon and Keeper, to offer employees on-demand access to earned wages. Our API integrations break data siloes and help human resource teams better manage their HR tech stacks. We continually seek ways to advance our software to ensure healthcare HR leaders are equipped with the most impactful and comprehensive HCM solutions.”
Significant Milestones
What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Rapoport cited:
“In the last year, Empeon successfully launched our new Workforce Scheduling Solution and our Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Both new products reinforce our commitment to empowering the healthcare sector with enterprise-grade tools to manage people operations. In addition to these two new products, we announced partnerships with the learning management system platform Showd.Me, and EWA partnerships with industry leaders.”
Customer Success Stories
After asking Rapoport about customer success stories, he highlighted:
“Family caregivers play an invaluable role in providing care for loved ones, yet often lack compensation for their efforts. FreedomCare needed assistance navigating complex regulations to enable efficient compensation delivery for qualified caregivers across the state. This is no small feat. With over 53 million unpaid caregivers nationwide, there is a tremendous need for support of caregivers providing uncompensated care. In Missouri alone, family caregivers provide $8 billion in critical and unpaid help each year.”
“By partnering with Empeon, FreedomCare was able to roll out a customized, automated, digital payment solution to benefit Missouri caregivers and the family members under their care. Through Empeon, FreedomCare is now streamlining payroll solutions for over 750 family caregivers per week in Missouri., addressing a critical issue.”
Differentiation From The Competition
What differentiates the company from its competition? Rapoport affirmed:
“Tight healthcare industry budgets leave little room for human capital management missteps or inefficiencies. Unfortunately, most human resource software is not designed specifically for the healthcare sector’s unique needs. Empeon outshines its competitors by offering comprehensive solutions specific to the healthcare industry.”
“We create customized software that meets healthcare’s unique staffing challenges and relieves the administrative burden of care providers, empowering them to focus on delivering the best possible care. We separate ourselves from the competition by enabling our customers to implement a more holistic, attentive, intentional and purposeful approach to HR and payroll management.”
“Empeon also provides unparalleled customer service, as demonstrated by our high retention rates. We are invested in our customers’ success and go above and beyond to meet their unique needs.”
Future Company Goals
What are some of the company’s future company goals? Rapoport concluded:
“Looking ahead, we’re excited to roll out several new products and features, including the public launch of our Scheduling solution. Additionally, our focus has been squarely on the healthcare and home care spaces, and we are closely following ever-changing regulations. As industry needs change, our solutions will evolve to solve customers’ challenges.”
