Empower AI announced it has acquired Highlight Technologies, a Fairfax, Virginia-based federal IT services company, strengthening its ability to deliver AI-driven and cloud-enabled mission solutions for U.S. federal agencies.
The acquisition expands Empower AI’s capabilities across DevSecOps, artificial intelligence, data management, and cloud modernization while increasing its support for modernization initiatives at agencies including the U.S. Departments of State and Homeland Security.
Founded in 2008, Highlight Technologies has built expertise in mission modernization, digital transformation, rapid-response delivery, and data-driven decision support for defense, civilian, and homeland security customers. The company also developed the AI Data Integration & Orchestration Engine (AIDE), which was recently assessed as “Awardable” in the Department of Defense Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office’s Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace. The addition of AIDE enhances Empower AI’s AI portfolio and positions the combined company to pursue additional defense AI opportunities.
Empower AI said the acquisition will accelerate the expansion of its proprietary AI accelerator portfolio, enabling faster AI deployments, greater interoperability, and more scalable AI adoption for federal customers. By combining Empower AI’s accelerator-based AI delivery model with Highlight’s mission-focused execution experience, the company aims to help government agencies modernize critical operations more efficiently.
The transaction became effective on July 7, 2026. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
