Germany-based embedded security company Emproof has closed a funding round led by Auriga Cyber Ventures, with SecFund joining as a new investor and existing backers High-Tech Gründerfonds and TIN Capital expanding their commitments.
The company said the capital will support international expansion while strengthening sales operations, compliance initiatives and product development. Emproof also plans to expand compliance frameworks, including pursuing ISO 27001:2022 certification, while continuing to build out its product platform.
Emproof focuses on protecting embedded systems directly at the binary level, enabling companies to defend firmware and algorithms from reverse engineering, tampering and cyberattacks. The technology is designed to secure devices even when the original source code is unavailable, making it particularly useful for protecting legacy systems.
The Bochum-based deep-tech company originated from Ruhr University Bochum, the Max Planck Institute and the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security. It operates across several markets including automotive, industrial and medical technology, as well as defence and aerospace, where it collaborates on European Defence Fund projects with integrators including Kongsberg and Rheinmetall.
Alongside the funding announcement, the company said Marc Schieder joined as CEO in early January 2026 and will lead the transition from a research-driven startup to a scalable enterprise SaaS organization. Schieder previously served as Managing Director at DRACOON, now part of Kiteworks.
KEY QUOTES:
