Engitix has appointed Ryan Richardson as an Independent Non-Executive Director as the biotechnology company advances its proprietary pipeline toward clinical development and expands its platform and partnership strategy.
The London-based company is developing extracellular matrix-based drug discovery and development programs across oncology, fibrosis, and fibro-inflammatory diseases. Its platform combines a patient-derived extracellular matrix bioarchive with multimodal disease datasets, advanced human 3D models, and AI and machine learning analytics to identify disease mechanisms, therapeutic targets, and biomarkers.
Richardson is Founder and CEO of Bios Life and brings experience spanning biotechnology, oncology, artificial intelligence, capital markets, fundraising, and corporate development.
Previously, he spent seven years as Chief Strategy Officer and an Executive Board Member at BioNTech. During his tenure, Richardson helped lead the company through its Series B financing, Nasdaq IPO, and subsequent public financings that raised more than $1 billion in equity capital.
He was also involved in BioNTech’s international expansion, corporate strategy, and oncology portfolio as the company developed from a privately held clinical-stage biotechnology business into a global public company. Richardson later served as Chairman of InstaDeep following its acquisition by BioNTech, adding experience at the intersection of AI, machine learning, and life sciences.
Earlier, Richardson spent more than eight years as an Executive Director in J.P. Morgan’s global healthcare investment banking team, advising on equity and debt financings and more than 25 cross-border M&A transactions with an aggregate value exceeding $100 billion. He was also a member of the founding team at Quantitative Insights, which received FDA approval for a machine-learning system designed for breast cancer diagnosis.
Richardson currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at Autolus Therapeutics and Linden Lake Labs. Engitix expects his experience in biotechnology strategy, capital markets, AI, and corporate development to support the company as it moves closer to becoming a clinical-stage biotechnology business.
