Envestnet: Interval Funds Integrated Into Unified Managed Account Platform

By Amit Chowdhry • Mar 17, 2026

Envestnet announced that the first series of interval funds is now available on its Unified Managed Account platform, expanding advisors’ access to private markets through a streamlined, fully integrated portfolio management experience.

The rollout enables financial advisors to incorporate interval funds directly into UMA portfolios, providing open-architecture exposure to private market investments from multiple managers without requiring separate operational workflows. By embedding these vehicles into the platform, Envestnet aims to simplify access, management, and reporting of alternatives alongside traditional assets.

As part of the integration, Envestnet oversees key functions tied to interval fund usage within UMAs, including research, trading, rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, and model updates. This centralized approach is designed to give advisors and clients a unified view of portfolio performance while reducing the complexity typically associated with alternative investments.

The company highlighted that a significant share of large firms remains privately held, reinforcing the growing importance of private-market exposure in diversified portfolios. Through the UMA structure, advisors can now access these opportunities via cost-effective investment vehicles without adding operational burden.

Envestnet also introduced an Alternatives Research Center to support advisors in navigating interval funds and other alternative investments. The resource hub includes portfolio construction guidance, use cases, and educational materials to improve understanding and adoption of these strategies.

The firm noted that its lineup of UMA-eligible interval funds is expected to expand over time, signaling continued investment in integrating alternatives into its broader wealth management ecosystem.

KEY QUOTES:

“Alternative investment managers are eager to democratize access to their investments throughout the financial services industry, but we believe the industry should not stop at access. At Envestnet, our vision is to unify a historically siloed alternatives universe, so that these asset classes no longer feel like ‘alternatives.’ By automating burdensome workflows, and adding transparency and clarity to portfolio performance, we can level the playing field for advisors in accessing and integrating private markets. This opens up a whole new world of opportunity for strengthening client portfolios by adding diversification and offering greater return and income potential.”

Dana D’Auria, CFA, Co-Chief Investment Officer and Group President, Envestnet Solutions

“The inclusion of the first interval funds is the latest milestone in our ongoing initiative to give advisors the power to integrate private markets directly into unified managed accounts — unlocking significant value for clients and eliminating disconnects across alternative investments. As interest in interval funds increases, Envestnet can help alleviate any advisor reluctance associated with alternatives by supporting compliance considerations, trading, and more within the unified managed accounts we’re already overseeing.”
